Direct Primary Care returns the healthcare focus to your and your family. It is a way to access primary healthcare for a set monthly fee, which is often much smaller than what you would pay for health insurance. This means no copays and no extra bills. When you have Direct Primary Care, the focus is always on you as the patient and your family members, and on prevention. The care you receive will always be patient-focused instead of visit-focused.
What this means to you is never having to hesitate to seek care or even call to see if it is recommended that you be seen. Your provider is there for you and your family. Both acute and chronic care are covered by your membership, an no one is turned away for a preexisting condition.

Roger Cummins moved to Klamath Falls from Roseburg in 1978 to attend OIT graduating with AS in Business and BS in Diagnostic Imaging. After graduating he completed two years of resident training in Phoenix Arizona. He then returned to Klamath Falls and worked 11 years at Merle West Medical Center in Interventional Radiology and Cardio Vascular procedures. During this time he raised kids, horses and dogs. Believing he could do more to help the people he cared for, he returned to college and graduated in 1996 from the University of Washington Medical School -MEDEX Northwest. He returned to Klamath Falls and joined Klamath Family Practice Center. In 2017 they decided to close the practice. He then opened Klamath Fall’s first Direct Primary Care clinic in April of 2017. This type of practice allows him and his patients to have a better quality of life!
The fact medicine has dramatically changed in the past 35 years led him to the conclusion there had to be a better, more affordable way to provide patient care. The typical medical setting forces providers to see 28 or more patients per day, only allowing short and rushed visits. We all deserve better. New is not always better so they went “Old School”. In a direct primary care, their office visits are scheduled for 30 – 45 minutes with the provider, there is little to no wait time. This allows the appropriate time to get to know his patient and their family, to ask questions of the patients and for his patient to ask all their questions without feeling rushed. To ask how they are doing, how their family is doing, and yes even ask about the family dog! Roger is available to his patients via email, texting, facetime, after hours visits and even house calls!

Born and raised in Jamaica, with living and research experience in Ethiopia and Tanzania, Dr Borland has been exposed to a diverse range of cultural approaches to health around the world. She honed in on this interest by studying International Public Health at Stanford University and later attended medical school at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Jamaica.
After just one year at UWI and two yoga teacher training courses, it became clear to her that a holistic approach to medicine was the only way to foster true healing. In an attempt to expand her knowledge and experience of this approach to medicine, she left UWI and found her new home at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington to study Naturopathic Medicine. She earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in 2018 and moved back home to practice alongside her mentor at an Integrative Medical Clinic in Kingston, Jamaica before moving to Oregon to join the SVM team.
Dr. Borland’s clinical interests include all aspects of primary care and preventive medicine, with a particular passion for women’s health, cardiovascular disease, digestive health, cancer support, counseling and stress management.

View Tara Holley’s Bio
Tara has been in healthcare for 20 years and know that she was born to help people. As an RN, for many years, she helped people both inpatient and in the home, specializing in specialty infusions for people with rare and chronic diseases. In many ways she became part of their families. She loved the connection she formed with these families and being able to make their journey a little smoother.
Tara was introduced into functional medicine about 10 years ago, and instantly knew this was the piece she didn’t know she had been missing. She dove into the functional medicine world with so many questions and was able to find answers that made sense to her about disease processes and root causes. She was able to personally try some of the techniques she was learning and see improvement in her health. Tara was eager to become a nurse practitioner so that she could help people find answers and achieve a healthier life, feeling better and stronger.
She enjoys teaching people how things work in their bodies and why a certain diet or supplement or medication can help. She loves learning from her patients, as well, and sharing in the experience of finding wellness.
Her training is in family medicine or primary care, but she also loves women’s health and cancer care, as well as nutrient therapy. The main motivator for her to become an NP is to support the patient that has been told that there’s nothing wrong, or there’s nothing more that can be done. She believes there’s always hope or a way of improving health.
Tara Holley was born and raised in the metro Denver area and loves the outdoors. She grew up camping, skiing, and riding motorcycles. For the past few years she hopped around to Nebraska, Wyoming, and ended up here in the Rogue Valley, which she has fallen in love with. She enjoys spending time outside as much as possible, being on the river or heading over to the coast.
