NEW TO DPC?

We help practices with transition to a DPC model

We assist primary care physicians in the process of converting to a direct primary care practice. We will share our forms, give you advice on practice set up, help you make decisions about a hybrid vs. straight DPC model, advise you on which platforms to use for the unique aspects of DPC practices such as billing and communication. We are just “paying it forward” from those who helped us get started. We all benefit from your success, including the companies and employees we serve.

Biographical Info

I moved to Klamath Falls from Roseburg in 1978 to attend OIT graduating with AS in Business and BS in Diagnostic Imaging.  After graduating I completed two years of resident training in Phoenix Arizona.  I then returned to Klamath Falls and worked 11 years at Merle West Medical Center in Interventional Radiology and Cardio Vascular procedures.  During this time I raised kids, horses and dogs.  Believing I could do more to help the people I cared for, I returned to college and graduated in 1996 from the University of Washington Medical School -MEDEX Northwest. I returned to Klamath Falls and joined Klamath Family Practice Center.  In 2017 we decided to close the practice. I then opened Klamath Fall’s first Direct Primary Care clinic in April of 2017. This type of practice allows me and my patients to have a better quality of life!

The fact medicine has dramatically changed in the past 35 years led me to the conclusion there had to be a better, more affordable way to provide patient care.  The typical medical setting forces providers to see 28 or more patients per day, only allowing short and rushed visits.  We all deserve better.  New is not always better so we went “Old School”.  In a direct primary care our office visits are scheduled for 30 – 45 minutes with the provider, there is little to no wait time.  This allows the appropriate time to get to know my patient and their family, to ask questions of the patients and for my patient to ask all their questions without feeling rushed.  To ask how they are doing, how their family is doing, and yes even ask about the family dog! I am available to my patients via email, texting, facetime, after hours visits and even house calls!

My Approach

My medical approach is rooted in Vitalism, a system of medicine that focuses on cure, using the body’s own innate ability to heal. I employ time tested natural therapies as well as the latest medical technology to develop sustainable health plans that empower my patients to take control of their health. It is my intention to make complex medicine simple, reconnect people with their bodies, and teach my patients the foundations of health.

My Background

As a native of Utah I grew up in a small farming community at the base of the Uintah Mountains. There among the mountain streams and rugged peaks I fell in love with Nature and developed a deep appreciation for its natural systems. As life would have it another force of nature, cancer, struck my family as it has so many families across this nation. And as in most cases my father battled through surgery and chemotherapy only to become weaker and more susceptible to his cancer. As my father slowly lost his resolve for life, my resolve to find answers and a more sensible approach to medicine became stronger and I found a system of medicine that teaches to strengthen the body’s natural disease fighting ability. As a physician I bring this fresh perspective to my community, a perspective that is resolute in helping people become stronger, better adapted to fight illness, and better educated about their health options.

My Education

  • Undergraduate Degree:  Bachelor of Science in Biology; University of Houston-Downtown
  • Doctorate Degree:  Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine; Bastyr University
  • Post Graduate Training: PRP, Prolotherapy, Neurotherapy, and Ozone therapy; Klinghardt Academy, Anthroposophical Medical Training

Dr. Carrie Norris is a licensed primary care physician that practices integrative and holistic medicine. She received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) with honors in medical research in Portland, Oregon. During her studies she completed an intensive year-long clinical internship with Martin Milner, ND with a focus in cardiovascular and pulmonary health and Kimberly Windstar, ND in women’s health. She grew up in Roseburg, Oregon, spending much of her younger years following her father around their 200-acre blueberry farm when he was not busy as a medical doctor in the emergency room and urgent care. It was the years watching her father’s commitment to medicine and community that helped her decide to pursue Naturopathic medicine.

Dr. Norris maintains a general family practice focused on optimizing health and overcoming chronic illness. She specializes in the treatment of thyroid disease, hormonal problems, autoimmune disease, women’s health and infertility issues. Her goal is to improve health while using the most recent medical research in conjunction with natural therapies in her practice.

Biographical Info

Dr. Laura Pennavaria received her MD degree from the University of California, San Diego in 2001. She completed a residency in Family Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Orange County, California, and is Board Certified in Family Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She has practiced in a variety of settings, and has spent a significant amount of her career serving in physician executive roles, in addition to maintaining her practice. This experience in an administrative capacity allowed her to see firsthand how the ever-increasing bureaucracy and red tape have driven physicians and their patients farther apart.

Dr. Pennavaria’s passion has always been serving her patients. She considers it a privilege and honor to have people entrust her with their health and their lives. What she loves most about practicing medicine is the relationships she builds with her patients. This relationship of caring and trust allows her to partner with her patients to reach their health goals. Direct Primary Care is a perfect match for Dr. Pennavaria, as it allows her to take her time with her patients, and serve them in a more personal way.

Dr. Pennavaria lives on a ranch east of Bend, Oregon with her husband Michael, and their two sons. In her spare time, you will find her enjoying various adventures with her family, fishing, loving on her goats (she considers herself a “crazy goat lady”), working on various projects around the farm, cycling, skiing, knitting, and cooking (she especially loves to bake). She hopes that you will join her practice, and is looking forward to getting to know you!
